Father is Hillebrand Lootman dit Albrin, born in Albany New York, of Dutch descent. He married Anne Leber, widow of Antoine Barrois, in New York.
This couple relocated to Laprairie where two of their sons (Francois and Pierre) were baptized on July 26 1669 in the Catholic Church. The name used in the baptism record is "Albrin".
Of note, is that Antoine Barrois 2nd, Anne's son by Antoine Barrois Sr., was also baptized that day with his half brothers.
Hillebrand had been baptized at birth in NY in the Dutch Reform Church. In December 1699, at the age of 37 y/o, he was baptized again in the Catholic faith in Montreal. On that day, he was given the French baptismal name of Jean-Baptiste. Thereafter, he was referred to was "Jean-Baptiste" Lootman dit Albrin rather than Hillebrand. His son Francois actually states his father's original name when he marries in Detroit,
